Location of the Black Swan Hotel
The Black Swan Hotel is situated in Ravenstondale, a peaceful and unspoilt village in the upper Eden valley in Cumbria. It lies between the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales national parks. Although quiet and secluded Ravenstonedale is easily accessed from the M6 and from the A1.
From the M6
Exit the M6 at junction 38 (Tebay). Follow the A685 east towards Kirkby Stephen. After about 6 miles, shortly after passing through Newbiggin-on-Lune, Ravenstonedale is signposted to the right. Take this road which leads downhill into the village. After crossing the bridge, take the second right turn. Pass the village school on your right and keep left to find the Black Swan Hotel on your right after another 200 metres.
From the A1
ake the A66 west from Scotch corner to Brough. Turn south at Brough on the A685. Follow the A685 through Kirkby Stephen. About 4 miles past Kirkby Stephen, Ravenstonedale is signposted left. Turn left on to the minor road and left again after 200 metres. Pass the village school on your right and keep left to find the Black Swan Hotel on your right after another 200 metres.
From the Settle-Carlisle Railway
The Black Swan Hotel is situated close to the famous Settle-Carlisle railway line, popularly thought of as the most scenic railway in England, passing through stunning Cumbrian and Yorkshire scenery.
